The 18th annual Metro FM Music Awards took place on 3 May 2025 at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, celebrating the best of South African music. The event, themed “Crowning Greatness,” honoured artists who have significantly contributed to the nation’s cultural landscape. Broadcast live on SABC1, the ceremony was hosted by Luthando ‘LootLove’ Shosha and Siyabonga ‘Scoop Makhathini’ Ngwekazi, with Anele Zondo and Mpumi Mlambo presenting the Black Carpet segment.
Other notable winners included DJ Kotin for Best Kwaito/Gqom Song with “Hello” featuring Big Nuz, Mshayi, and Mr Thela, and Zakes Bantwini for Best Dance Song with “Mama Thula” featuring Skye Wanda, Thakzin, and Suffocate SA.
Each category winner received R50,000, while the Song of the Year award came with a grand prize of R150,000, courtesy of the Motsepe Foundation.
The Metro FM Music Awards 2025 not only celebrated musical achievements but also reinforced the rich tapestry of South African culture and creativity.
