Bafana Bafana Qualify For the FIFA 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico
In dramatic fashion as always, South Africa’s senior football side has qualified for the 2026 World Cup in North America next summer. The World Cup will be held across Canada, Mexico and the United States of America from June to July.

Bafana Bafana took the long route to qualify after being docked 3 points in what could only be regarded as an administrative error by SAFA. The South African squad although docked the 3 points, needed a win with 3 or more goals. With some help from the Nigerian team, the super Eagles, to beat Benin in the final game of the group stage. Goals scored by Orlando Pirates players, Oswin Appollis, Thalenthe Mbatha and Evidence Makgopa secured the 3 nil win against Rwanda.
The fight for places will be hotly contested in the coming months, with AFCON taking place in Morocco in December later this year. With many of the squad based in the local league, Betway Premier Soccer League, the league will surely be even more entertaining. Bafana ended up in third place at the last AFCON, could they reach the final this time around? How well do you think they will do at the upcoming World Cup in 2026 and who are you looking forward to seeing in the squad that will be travelling to North America?
