SAMRO Open Call for 2026 Music Creation Support Fund Applications 

SAMRO’s flagship CSI project, sparked by the Covid-19 pandemic returns for the 2026 intake. With funding up to R25000 per 120 members, these funds cover new works. The call is open to associate and full members only, with highest criteria based on chances of success of the project.

The call opens from 01 October until 31 October 2025, with over 3366 applications over the years, the number is definitely set to increase this coming year. Majority of applications have been from the 3 main provinces in GP, KZN and WC, with increased participation from female composers coming through in the previous year. Only 120 spots are available making it highly competitive, of which the music industry is built off of in any case. Are you ready to apply?

SAMRO has stated the following as a disclaimer on the funding call: “Those who have already benefitted from the programme within the last three (3) years are urged not to apply, to ensure that this initiative helps support as many first-time beneficiaries as possible. Applications will be assessed on merit by an independent multi-disciplinary committee of industry professionals, who will consider the originality of the work, the feasibility of the work plan and budget, as well as the potential success of the project. The adjudication committee’s decisions are final.”
