Banyana Banyana Kick Off WAFCON Title Defence with Win Over Ghana

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana kicked off their WAFCON title defence with a 2 – 0 win against the Black Stars of Ghana. With a new trophy announced, the champions of African Football are looking to not just qualify for the 2027 Womens World Cup by finishing in the top 4 but actually defending the title. The other teams are definitely looking to spoil the South Africans party with SAFA already doing that for them.

Two first half goals secured the win with a penalty goal by Motlhalo and a spectacular by Seopesenwe. Heroics from Dlamini in goal sealed the win.

Already facing challenges with SASOL pulling out their sponsorship until some criteria by SAFA is met, as well as payment challenges, Banyana Banyana will look to impress and again make the most of SAFAs failures.
